This Week
Good shepherding
Paul was a great missionary because of his passion for the people he served. Most people are not shepherds in the strict sense of being a pastor of a church (the word pastor means shepherd), but with a general love of people, we can all treat people like family, under the care of one Good Shepherd who does delegate his work to many people for specific times and settings. Join us this weekend (Thursday at 7 PM or Sunday at 8 or 10:30 AM) to learn from 1 Thessalonians 2:17-3:5. Learn from Paul’s good shepherding and from his teacher, the Good Shepherd.

Highlights
Events and ministry news needing immediate attention
Good Shepherd Sunday
Young, old, and in-between, we are all little lambs of the Good Shepherd. Good Shepherd Sunday is April 30. Join the flock for church-wide fellowship from 9:00 – 10:30 AM. Visit the sheep pen out front (or in the gym if it rains), check out the parent-child project in the gym, show us your yard-game magic, and enjoy food and drink. “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”

Worship
Resources and opportunities for you to worship
A/V serving opportunities
Don’t be intimidated by all the electronic equipment—the A/V booth provides many opportunities to not only serve but to learn new skills:
- Livestream Video techs make livestreaming possible each week by adjusting cameras and online microphones.
- Audio techs adjust the microphone levels in the sanctuary and mix the music for our livestream.
- Slide techs make it possible to worship from the screens as they advance the slides throughout worship.
Interested in learning more or shadowing in one of these areas? Contact Minister of Worship Naomi Laabs or Pastor Clinton.

Milestones
This Sunday, Piper Carpenter, the daughter of Owen and Lexi Carpenter, will be baptized into Christ after the 10:30 AM service on Sunday. May the Lord bless this child he is bringing into his kingdom and bless us with the opportunity to teach her as she grows.
Worship check-in
If you worship on-site, please fill out the Connection Card attached to your worship folder. Online worshipers, please continue to check in here.

Nurture
Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others
Grow through Your Grief
Death is a certainty in life, but that makes it no less painful or difficult to deal with when someone you love dies. Have you lost a loved one? Do you struggle with God’s plan for your life now that your future looks different than you planned? If you can relate, join us for a time of fellowship and remembrance at St. Andrew on April 29 from 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM. Connect with fellow believers who understand what you are going through. Receive comfort from God’s Word and each other, and grow through your grief for the days ahead.
Lunch will be served. Please register here by Wednesday, April 26.
Grow in Grace
There are some very intriguing questions asked in Scripture, some by Jesus and some by others. For example, “Am I my brother’s keeper?” and “Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?” We’ve found six of them to answer at the next Grow in Grace. This whole church Bible study is from 9:30 – 10:15 AM on May 14 & 21. Join us for this nurture opportunity. If you would like childcare, please send an email to Staff Minister for Nurture Mark Kjenstad. It will be available in the gym.
Impact
One of the most well-known stories in the entire Old Testament is Daniel in the Lions’ Den. Listen to Pastor Hunter teach Christ, as he is seen in this true story. You can find our St. Andrew podcast Impact here or wherever you listen to podcasts by searching “Kjenstad Impact.”
PowerHour
We had an amazing turnout at the last PowerHour, and if you have a child 3 or younger, we invite you to join us at the next one on May 7. The theme is, “Let’s go camping.” For more on PowerHour, click here.
Sunday morning children’s ministries
Musikgarten, Plugged into Jesus, and Spark are all off this coming Sunday for Good Shepherd Sunday. After you see the sheep out front, stop by the gym for an activity to do with your young child. All Sunday morning children’s ministries will return on May 7 before breaking for the summer.
FUEL
FUEL is off this Sunday for Good Shepherd Sunday. FUEL will meet again on May 7 before taking a break for the summer. However, there will be two FUEL outings this summer. More information on those is coming soon.

Service & Outreach
Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others
Update your profile
Accurate and updated information facilitates both serving you and providing you with opportunities to serve. St. Andrew utilizes the software Community Church Builder (CCB), but its effectiveness is only as strong as your participation. Please take a few minutes to update your CCB profile. Make sure your contact info is accurate. Update your picture. You can even enter your allergies or job title. Simply log in, click on the identification circle in the upper right corner of the screen, and go to “profile.”
First Group
Are you interested in learning more about Christianity? Maybe even joining the St. Andrew family? In this group, you will gain an overview of the Bible, see the difference God’s powerful Word makes in our lives, and get your questions answered. The next session will be on Monday evenings. Contact Pastor Clinton for more information or to discuss a time that works for you.
Monthly Mission PartnerMay’s Monthly Mission Partner is Divine Savior Church in Sienna, Texas. Sienna is just one campus of Divine Savior, the rest of which are in Florida. It is a growing community outside of Houston, and, like St. Andrew, operates a school as a big part of its ministry. St. Andrew had intended to partner with Divine Savior in June for one of its mission trips to assist with soccer camp, but this trip had to be canceled this year. We still hope to send a team in subsequent years. For more information about Divine Savior, visit their website or see the video below.

Westside Christian School
A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word
Mother and Son Game Night
Mother and Son Game Night is coming up on Saturday, April 29, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. Please join us for a night of friendly competition, food, and a chance for some prizes at the end of the night. The event costs $5 per person, paid at the door, but please register for the event here.
During the event, we will have a tribute to each son and his guest. If you would like to participate, please email two pictures and a short message stating why your son is so special and, in his words, why his guest is special to him. Pictures and messages can be emailed to Laura Westphal. All pictures will be kept confidential and only shared during the event.
Enrollment
We are blessed by the number of families returning to Westside for the 2023-24 school year! We look forward to welcoming 261 students to our ministry next fall. At this point, most classrooms are full; however, there is still space in 4K and 7th grade. Please encourage your friends and neighbors to reach out to us for more information. The best place for them to start would be our website, or they could call us at 608-831-8540 to schedule a tour.
Staffing update and open positions
We are so thankful to have all full-time teaching positions filled for the 2023-24 school year and are excited to have two teachers joining our team. In addition, all of our classroom assistants and paraprofessionals are returning next fall! We still have the following positions open.
- Long-term substitute—1st grade
Ashley Renstrom, our current 1st grade teacher, is tentatively planning her maternity leave for the start of the 2023-24 school year. WCS is looking to add a long-term substitute beginning in August and staying through the end of September or early October, depending when her new baby is born. The position will be full-time throughout those weeks; however, we may consider a job share if no other option is available. Ideal candidates would have teaching experience and an elementary education degree or have taken early childhood certification classes. If you or someone you know is interested in learning more, contact Meredith Pucci.
- Classroom assistant—Pre-K3
Westside Christian School is looking to add a classroom assistant in our Pre-K3 classroom on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 7:45 – 11:30 AM. Classroom assistants support our lead teachers by preparing materials or snacks, working with small groups of students, and helping the teacher set up or clean up activities. Candidates would demonstrate a willingness to cooperate with other adults and a joy for supporting students of all ages. Contact Meredith Pucci for further information and to receive a complete position description.
