This Week
See all the people
Do you remember intertwining the fingers of your hands and saying, “Here’s the church. Here’s the steeple. Open the doors, and see all the people!” It’s a neat little reminder that in the Bible, the church is never a building, but it’s always people—people Jesus lived and died for and brought to trust and love him. But maybe it’s a little misleading, too, because where are all the people? Sure, they’re in church, but they’re also “out there” where God has called us to live, work, and play. This weekend, remember and celebrate that Jesus is alive. The tomb is empty. And he’s with his people in church and out. He’s with you. He’s with us, St. Andrew, as we pursue his vision for our church. Join us Thursday night at 7 or Sunday morning at 8 or 10:30 AM.

Thank you, Holy Week servants
A lot happened between Palm Sunday and Easter, both 2000 years ago and this year at St. Andrew. Thank you, all who helped make the Holy Week services wonderful opportunities to worship our Lord Jesus for all he has done. Your sacrifices of time and effort do not go unnoticed.
Farewell (for now) to the Hunters | June 8
Join us on June 8 for Pastor Hunter’s last service at St. Andrew and his installation in a new ministry. WELS Home Missions Administrator Mark Gabb will commission Pastor Hunter for his role in Boise, Idaho. That afternoon will be a fun celebration. We don’t have all those details yet, but please save the date and look for more details to come.

Good Shepherd Sunday
Young, old, and in-between, we are all little lambs of the Good Shepherd. Good Shepherd Sunday is May 11. Join the flock for church-wide fellowship from 9:00 – 10:30 AM. Visit the sheep pen out front and enjoy food and drink. “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
Milestones

Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others
Mission Possible: A Model for Personal Evangelism
Grow in Grace is returning with a presentation that will help you be a missionary, without leaving the country! Aaron Wakeman, Executive Director of Friends Network, will describe the unique evangelism model they teach to all of their new missionaries. He will share stories of everyday people making an eternal impact around the world and give you simple tools to be a missionary right where you are. Join us for Mission Possible on May 18 at 9:30 in the sanctuary. Need childcare so you can attend? Please contact Yvonne Onsager to sign up.
St. Andrew Science Camp
St. Andrew is excited to bring back Science Camp. This summer, campers will learn about God’s creatures, great and small. There will be lessons from God’s Word, live animals, experiments, snacks, and more. Science Camp is July 14 – 17 from 8:30 – 11:30 AM and is open to kindergarten – grade 6. Register here. When you register, note the special opportunity for grades 5 – 6. If your child in 7th or 8th grade wants to serve as a helper, reach out to Yvonne Onsager.
Miscarriage Q and A
Each month, Forward in Christ magazine features a Q and A section. Recently a question was submitted about losing a child due to miscarriage. This may be helpful to you or a loved one. Find the article here.
Small Talk podcast
Be sure and listen to this new episode of Small Talk! Violet and Hawthorn are fantastic as they discuss the emotions of Holy Week while keeping both eyes on the good news that the resurrection of Jesus means our sins have been paid for and death has been defeated. You can listen to Small Talk here or by searching “Kamin Small Talk” wherever you listen to podcasts.
Impact podcast
The resurrection of Jesus is the exclamation point at the end of this gracious promise from God: Your sins have been paid for, and death has been defeated! Pastor Andrew Hussman is here to take us through Matthew’s account of the resurrection and the glorious words of Isaiah 12. Listen to Impact here or by searching for “Kjenstad Impact” wherever you listen to podcasts.
Plugged into Jesus reminder
Plugged into Jesus children in 4K – grade 3 are singing in both services on Sunday, May 4. Students will meet in room 106 ten minutes before each service.

Service & Outreach
Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others
Assist with Science Camp at St. Andrew
Science Camp is July 14 – 17, and we are looking for teenagers and adults to serve in a variety of ways, including as counselors, helping with art or experiments, serving snacks, helping with registration, and much more. Please contact Yvonne Onsager if interested.
Connections
Do you enjoy working and interacting with children? Come spend some time with Westside’s 3rd grade students! These students would love to make some new friends and connections with members of St. Andrew.
If you would enjoy playing board games and beginning new friendships with students in 3rd grade, please join us for 45 minutes on Friday, May 9, 2:15 – 3:00 PM, in the Westside gym. If you plan on attending and are interested in being a part of our 3rd grade Connections, please contact Mrs. Beth Plath by text (612.616.1760) or email (beth.plath@westside-christian.org).
We need your picture!
Have you ever arrived in a new community and been expected to learn hundreds of names and faces quickly? Well, that’s what we’ll be asking of a new pastor soon. To help make that easier for him, let’s try to make sure he can access current pictures of the St. Andrew family. Please send a current picture in portrait orientation to [email protected]. Thanks for your help in the coming transition.
Teen mission trip this July
St. Andrew is planning to send a group of teens back to Rock Hill, South Carolina, to help Illumine Church put on their summer camp. The trip dates are July 12 – 18, probably minus a day on either end. Please contact Pastor Clinton if you or your teen is interested.
Service opportunity | Brat Fest
St. Andrew will again be a Brat Fest charity. Volunteers interact with the community and earn donations toward St. Andrew ministry mission trips. Opportunities abound from May 18 – 25, but you must register here, and then please let Pastor Clinton know which slot you signed up for. Slots fill up, so sign up right away. Find more information about Brat Fest at bratfest.com.

Westside Christian School
A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word
Westside teacher update
Last week Tuesday, St. Andrew voted to ask Mrs. Gale Hellpap to sign a letter of “Intent to Call.” The reason this situation is different than a typical call is because Mrs. Hellpap is a second-career teacher and is currently finishing her teaching degree through Wisconsin Lutheran College. When she completes her student teaching, she will be eligible for a call.
Mrs. Hellpap is married to Andrew and has two children who are currently attending Our Redeemer. Please join me in thanking God that he, once again, has fulfilled our request and need for a teacher. |
