This Week

Integrity
A famous actress once said, “It’s useless to hold a person to anything he says while he’s in love, drunk, or running for office.” A less punchy way to say the same thing is “integrity matters.” Paul discovered that the message, even the message of the gospel, is inextricably tied up in the messenger. Integrity matters. God’s grace covers our imperfections, but the same grace moves us to integrity. We’re not perfect, but we are redeemed. Learn from Paul’s teaching on the subject in 1 Thessalonians 2:1-16, and then join your brothers and sisters to receive grace and pursue integrity. See you in church.

Events and ministry news needing immediate attention

Grow through Your Grief
Death is a certainty in life, but that makes it no less painful or difficult to deal with when someone you love dies. Have you lost a loved one? Do you struggle with God’s plan for your life now that your future looks different than you planned? If you can relate, join us for a time of fellowship and remembrance at St. Andrew on April 29 from 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM. Connect with fellow believers who understand what you are going through. Receive comfort from God’s Word and each other, and grow through your grief for the days ahead.

Lunch will be served. Please register here by Wednesday, April 26.

Worship

Resources and opportunities for you to worship

Easter Adult Choir
Keep the Easter joy alive by joining your voice with other brothers and sisters high school age and older. Rehearsals will be Wednesdays, April 19 & 26, at 7 PM, in Room 115. The Adult Choir will sing for worship Sunday, April 30.

Good Shepherd Sunday
Young, old, and in-between, we are all little lambs of the Good Shepherd. Good Shepherd Sunday is April 30. Join the flock for church-wide fellowship from 9:00 – 10:30 AM. Visit the sheep pen out front, check out the parent-child project in the gym, show us your yard-game magic, and enjoy food and drink. “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”

Milestones
Marie Oakeson went home to heaven on Saturday, April 15, after being given nearly 89 years of grace. She and John had moved to Milestone Senior Living in Stoughton about two years ago to be closer to their son and his family. John will remain at Milestone, just a few blocks from their son and his family. According to Marie’s wishes, the family will have a private funeral.

Worship check-in
If you worship on-site, please fill out the Connection Card attached to your worship folder. Online worshipers, please continue to check in here.

Weekend worship songs
Preview some of the songs we will use for worship this weekend. Obviously ours won’t sound exactly like this, but listening to the links provided will certainly help you be more comfortable participating in the service.

Nurture

Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others

Grow in Grace
There are some very intriguing questions asked in Scripture, some by Jesus and some by others. For example, “Am I my brother’s keeper?” and “Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?” We’ve found six of them to answer at the next Grow in Grace. This whole church Bible study is from 9:30 – 10:15 AM on May 14 & 21. Join us for this nurture opportunity. If you would like childcare, please send an email to Staff Minister for Nurture Mark Kjenstad.

Nurture opportunity
Here is a convenient way to take in God’s Word every day. Add the WELS app to your device. You’ll find it here. Scroll through and see what is available to help you connect with Christ every day.

Impact
A dearly loved hymn was inspired by a request heard from the Emmaus’ disciples. Listen to part 2 on the Road to Emmaus with Pastor Nate Wordell from Wisconsin Lutheran College and hear the story. You’ll also hear about the great reveal from Jesus. You can find our St. Andrew podcast Impact here or wherever you listen to podcasts by searching “Kjenstad Impact.”

PowerHour
It’s been a while, but PowerHour returns this Friday! If you have a child 3 or under, join us for Construction Day. For more on PowerHour, click here.

Sunday morning children’s ministries
Musikgarten, Plugged into Jesus, and Spark are all thriving, and we want your child involved! Musikgarten (3 and under) and Plugged into Jesus (4K – grade 5) welcome children beginning at 9:20 AM, and Spark (grades 6 – 8) begins at 9:25 AM. This week, the lesson is Rebuilding the Temple. We will teach what God says about worship.

FUEL
This Sunday morning Growth Group is for high school students. It gives them a chance to ask questions, receive much-needed encouragement, and learn from God’s powerful Word. FUEL meets at 9:25 in room 114.

Service & Outreach

Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others

Update your profile
Accurate and updated information facilitates both serving you and providing you with opportunities to serve. St. Andrew utilizes the software Community Church Builder (CCB), but its effectiveness is only as strong as your participation. Please take a few minutes to update your CCB profile. Make sure your contact info is accurate. Update your picture. You can even enter your allergies or job title. Simply log in, click on the identification circle in the upper right corner of the screen, and go to “profile.”

First Group
Are you interested in learning more about Christianity? Maybe even joining the St. Andrew family? In this group, you will gain an overview of the Bible, see the difference God’s powerful Word makes in our lives, and get your questions answered. Contact Pastor Clinton if interested.

Mission Madison
You can still apply for Mission Madison. This trip is designed to help middle school students prepare for national mission trips. Instead of traveling out of the area, we perform service projects with non-profit organizations in Madison and the surrounding communities. Apply at the St. Andrew website. Mission Madison has many opportunities for those who are not participants, including hosting the participants for a couple hours, cooking for them, and transportation. Contact the Mission Trips team leader, Amy Kohlstedt, to learn more.

Monthly Mission Partner
Our April partner is Central African Medical Mission. CAMM has been using the constant need for medical attention and expertise as a bridge to the gospel for over 60 years, primarily in Malawi and Africa. Find out more about CAMM on their website and by viewing the video below.
