This Week
Oh, my
Have you gazed upon the infinity of the heavens, the vastness of the sea, or the beauty of a child and muttered, “Oh, my.” It’s not just that you don’t know the words to say, it’s that words can’t express what you’re feeling. Paul does something like that at the end of Romans 11. He’s not done with the letter. We’ll benefit from 5 more chapters. But he’s done with eleven chapters of describing our lostness, God’s goodness, and the Spirit’s faithfulness. All that’s left to say is, “Oh, my.” Gather with brothers and sisters to receive grace in word and sacrament this Thursday or Sunday. Hear the message, receive the meal, and say, “Oh, my.”

Worship
Resources and opportunities for you to worship
Summer Camp Celebration Service
Summer Camp is quickly approaching, and we are excitedly getting ready to welcome the children for a week of fun learning about Jesus. On Thursday, July 11, we will culminate our week with a special service celebrating the great things the Lord did throughout the week. Please note this Thursday service will be at 6:30 PM, not 7 PM, as we normally do on Thursday evenings. St. Andrew members are welcome to come and celebrate with us at this special service and help us make our guests feel welcome.
Concert link
Last week Minister of Worship Naomi Laabs was in the Milwaukee area singing with Canticum Novum: A WELS Chamber Choir. This group consists of 40 of the top choral singers from around the Midwest. You can view the livestream of their concert here.
Milestones
- Avery Miller, daughter of Jake and Brenda Miller, was baptized at home on May 20, but last Sunday family and friends gathered with St. Andrew to celebrate the Spirit’s gifts to her.
- Lennon Alexander, daughter of Kali and Kevin Alexander, was baptized into Christ last Sunday, June 23. May the Spirit continue to add to the blessings he began in Holy Baptism.
- Jordan Veers and Weston Swartztrauber were married in a small private ceremony two years ago, moved to Arizona where both pursued advanced degrees in medicine, and looked forward to gathering family and friends two years later to celebrate God’s gift of marriage. That moment came last Saturday when before several hundred of their family and friends they publicly repeated their vows, and everyone asked for the Lord’s blessing and celebrated together.

If you worship on-site, please fill out the Connection Card attached to your worship folder. Online worshipers, please continue to check in here.

Nurture
Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others
Morning for Your Marriage
9 AM – 11 AM, Saturday, July 13
A study of 50,000 couples showed that one of the most significant distinctions between happy and unhappy couples is how they handle conflict. Join other married couples to learn and practice two important things to help manage conflict in ways that build intimacy, honor Jesus, and bring joy to each other.
Registration is required both for the event and for childcare. Registration will close one week before the event on Sunday, July 7. Arrival time begins at 8:30 AM. Enjoy a beverage, fruit, and pastries, and get the kiddos settled in with their caregivers so we can begin at 9 AM. Guests are welcome, and so are children. If you’d like to help provide care for the children while their parents are building their marriages, please message [email protected] or write it on your Connection Card in church.
Pre-Marriage Workshop
You put time into planning for the dress, the band, the menu, the seating, the invitations, etc. And as good as it all is, it will all be gone a couple hours after you say your vows. Your marriage, though, remains. Plenty of wedding planning experts and websites offer to help you plan your wedding. Let us help you plan for a marriage that honors God and a lifetime of bringing joy to your spouse. St. Andrew offers two Pre-Marriage Workshops each year to our community. The next one is on Saturday, July 20, beginning with continental breakfast at 8:30 AM and concluding by 4:00 PM. If you’re engaged, you can register now. Registration closes on Sunday, July 14. This isn’t just for people of St. Andrew. Forward this invitation and the link to engaged couples you know who want to gain valuable skills for a Christian marriage.
Impact
This week on Impact it’s more from Colossians 3 featuring this gem: “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus.” Our guest is Professor Kyle Bitter, a teacher of God’s Word at Luther Preparatory School in Watertown, Wisconsin. Tune in to Impact by searching “Kjenstad Impact” or click here.

Service & Outreach
Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others
Serving opportunity | Flags for July 4
St. Andrew is putting together a team to help Middleton VFW set out American flags around our community on July 4 to celebrate our independence. This is a great project for individuals, groups, or families. Flag setup begins around 6:00 AM, and the flags are returned by 5:30 PM. Help with either or both. Contact Pastor Clinton to join this effort or sign up here.
One body, many members
1 Corinthians 12 says the church is like a body. It is one, but it is made of many unique parts with specific roles. St. Andrew has been blessed with many personalities, spiritual gifts, and skillsets. We want you to be blessed and be a blessing to others by serving in accordance with yours. St. Andrew’s ministry plan for the next twelve months will go into effect next week, so now is a great time to submit your One Body, Many Members survey to help determine how you can serve.
New called workers joining Westside staff
Dan and Beth Plath and Krista Simmons are beginning to ease into their new roles at Westside Christian School. As part of our effort to welcome them to the ministry, card boxes are in the atrium. Feel free to drop a gift and/or card of encouragement. We are also planning an afternoon event on August 18. More details on that to come.
Monthly Mission Partner
July’s partner is Christian Aid & Relief, an organization of our church body whose mission is to reflect Christ’s love and compassion to souls suffering from disasters and hardships. Because of what Christ has freely done for us, we eagerly show we care by offering our time, talents, and treasures to those in need. For a better idea of what CAR does, go to wels.net/relief.
